Description
Lot #1103 - This trophy-winning, crowd-pleasing Mercury is no doubt a one-of-a-kind. It's a new frame-off build. Has new custom interior, engine, body and meticulous metal work. The Lo-Ryda has been chopped 6", channeled, decked, lowered, frenched, tubbed and finished off with a custom DeSoto grille. This incredible body sets on a custom bent-tube chassis by the famous Art Morrison with 4-link Shock Wave air suspension. Stage 1 GM crate 454cid big block with approximately 350 break-in miles only. Runs and sounds very strong and looks as good on underside as it does on the outside. The Mercury has a 700R4 transmission with a mild 2,500 stall and a Ford 9" 3.55 rear end, which lets this baby cruise on the highway. The engine is a piece of art, mostly chromed with a 750 CFM Edelbrock carburetor, aluminum custom radiator, powder coated headers and stainless exhaust. It comes to a stop with front and rear 11" disc brakes on custom aluminum DUB wheels, 20x8.5" front and 20x10" rear. Custom paint is 10 coats of Porsche/Basalt Metallic Black and clear coats with a touch of pearl. There are custom LED lights front, back, inside and underneath. The new interior starts with a custom '49 dash, easy access custom wiring harness, All-American gauges and switches for everything built in to the hand-built, custom front-to-back console and beautiful black/gray Ultraleather with black carpet. It even has several cup holders. This recently finished Mercury has entered three show events and has Best of Show in all of them, awards included. It was also featured in the June 2014 issue of the National Street Rod Association Street Scene magazine. This car was built by the owner, for the owner. Comes with matching fender skirts.
