Description
Lot #2030 - Originally born a C-code (289 2 barrel) fastback, this San Jose, CA, built Mustang has been rebuilt as a high-quality GT500E Supercar. It was the first of an anticipated run of 75 GT500E Super Snakes constructed under the direction of Carroll Shelby and executed by Unique Performance of Irving, TX. The under-hood identification tag bears serial number CSE67431F51SS001. The stock parallel leaf sprung rear axle has been replaced by a cantilever-style independent rear suspension with Baer/Shelby disc brakes all around. While some GT500E creators take shortcuts under the hood, this example packs an expensive all aluminum Shelby 427cid FE engine with aluminum Shelby heads and a double-cross-bolted aluminum Shelby engine block. Fed by a large, encased Holley 4 barrel carburetor that's been bolstered by a Vortec V2 centrifugal supercharger and nitrous oxide, power feeds into a 5-speed manual transmission with a steel scatter shield surrounding the high capacity clutch. A modern air conditioning system assures comfortable cruising while deep-bolster Super Snake racing seats assure high-G driver security. The dashboard bears Carroll Shelby's signature.
