Description
Lot #2059 - Don't let the red oxide primer and "Rat Rod" name fool you. This Boyd Coddington-built '27 Ford Model T is as sanitary as any of the late Hot Rod hero's other creations. You won't need a tetanus shot to enjoy this minimalist exercise that's based on a fabric-topped steel cab with steel doors and deck. Rolling on a custom boxed frame with dropped transverse leaf springs at both ends, Boyd eschewed high zoot billet goodies on this one and chose a dropped and drilled front beam axle and smooth-housing Ford 9" live axle out back. Old-school hydraulic drum brakes locate stock Ford 15" and 16" steel rims sporting Firestone radials and '40 Ford DeLuxe hub caps and trim rings. A small block Chevy resides under the side-hinged steel hood, inhaling through an Edelbrock dual-quad setup and exhaling through ceramic-coated ram's horn exhaust manifolds. The basic but comfortable black interior accommodates a floor-mounted automatic shift lever and '40 Ford DeLuxe steering wheel. Best of all, with the mechanical odometer showing a mere 2,386 miles, this fun little truckster is virtually new.
