Description
Lot #2529 - When Chevrolet couldn't — or wouldn't — offer vehicle/engine packages for top-tier high-performance customers, outfits like Motion Performance were ready to help. Based in Baldwin, NY, Motion Performance not only offered turnkey performance packages off the showroom floor, but also provided vehicle makeover services for walk-in customers. This 1969 Chevy SS396 Camaro appears to have been an actual Motion Performance customer makeover car and comes with an official Baldwin Auto Company invoice indicating it received an LS7 454 engine swap in June 1970. Among the items installed on this Camaro are the aforementioned LS7 454 crate engine with correct 1970 454 "512" casting number, Winters Foundry aluminum heads, a Winters Foundry dual-plane aluminum intake manifold, a Holley 800-cfm carburetor, cast aluminum 6-rib valve covers, electric fuel pumps, Phase III cam, 4.88:1 rear axle ratio, Schiefer clutch assembly, traction bars, deep sump oil pan and Motion Phase III CD ignition. The vehicle runs well and has been treated to a full restoration to stock SS396 appearance, plus the Motion Performance add-ons.
