Description
Lot #835 - New for 1954 was the Sun Valley with a Plexiglas roof insert, as was the new overhead valve V8. This brilliant model saw low production, with 9,761 U.S. built units. Nearly every conceivable factory option that was available for Mercury in 1954 can be found on this Sun Valley including power brakes, power steering, power windows, backup lights, fender skirts, an automatic transmission, radio, heater, tinted windshield and Continental kit. The Sun Valley shown here recently underwent a full restoration and is an excellent example in several regards. The body, paint and restored upholstery are all well-maintained. Sun Valleys also had extensive brightwork, especially on the imposing front fascia and this car is no exception. The original 256 V8 sits under the hood, mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission, both in excellent condition as well. Other mechanical details, such as the wiring, brakes and steering function perfectly and add to the car's solid and reliable construction. On a side note, power brakes were an option on the Sun Valley and this specific car has it.
