Description
Lot #834 - Just 3,900 glamorous Eldorado Sevilles were produced for 1956 with every surviving example remaining highly prized by today's collectors. The outstanding 1956 Eldorado Seville offered here benefits from a well done ground-up restoration. Its deep white exterior finish is perfectly complimented by gleaming brightwork, a gold finished grille and original Vic-O-Dec vinyl roof. The interior is trimmed in two tone red and white upholstery with all-new carpeting, while the impressively restored dash contains a set of properly working instruments. The rebuilt and highly detailed Cadillac overhead valve V8 engine displaces 356cid and delivers 305hp, thanks to a higher 9.75:1 compression ratio and a pair of well-tuned dual Carter carburetors that are topped by a striking gold finished bat wing dual element air cleaner. In addition, the refined Hydramatic 4-speed automatic transmission provides smooth shifts with enhancements that were introduced for 1956, including a new and virtually maintenance-free fluid coupling. When new, the 1956 Eldorado offered a staggering list of nearly 30 standard features, including electric window lifts, fog lamps, a 6-way power front seat, power brakes, power steering and a multitude of comfort and convenience items. This Eldorado is also equipped with a desirable Wonder Bar AM radio, an optional remote control trunk release, wide white wall tires and a very rare set of chrome finished Sabre-Spoke wheels, which were a no-cost Eldorado option for 1956. Since completion of the restoration, the Eldorado has covered only about 1,000 miles. It is a very impressive and well sorted example that runs and drives as well as it looks with recent work including attention to the power window lifts which were checked to ensure reliable operation.
