Description
Lot #808 - In 1959, just four options were available for the Eldorado, air conditioning, cruise control, the Autronic-Eye automatic headlight dimmer and E-Z Eye glass. As a result, the Eldorado Seville hardtop carried a lofty base price of $7,401, identical to that of the Biarritz convertible. With its beautiful Dakota Red special order exterior finish, matching interior and gleaming brightwork, this 1959 Eldorado Seville benefits from its restoration and has been well maintained. In addition to its many standard features already listed above, this Eldorado is also equipped with three of the four factory available options, air conditioning, E-Z Eye glass and the Autronic-Eye. Although this Eldorado was originally equipped with Cadillac's innovative but troublesome air suspension, it has been removed in favor of conventional coil springs for ease of operation. This car has on it four brand new Cadillac style wire wheels. GM archives has provided factory documentation of the special order. The car runs wonderfully with tremendous power and shifts well. It has front disc brakes, a new alternator and new 4 barrel carburetor to make this wonderful car more reliable to drive. The Tri-Power manifold and carburetor setup comes with the car. This car was owned for some time by Hank Williams Jr. and had been on display at a country music museum in Tennessee.
