Description
Lot #474 - Featured in the December 2013 issue of Super Chevy magazine, this stunning 1964 Malibu SS is a blend of mid-60s styling and modern performance. This recipient of a full frame-off restoration has painstakingly maintained the original look, right down to its Almond Fawn exterior paint in its original code with a little extra metal flake thrown in. The only hint of its modern underpinnings are the Boss 18" wheels with custom Wicked Image center caps. Taking care of propulsion is a 6.0 Liter LS2 V8 engine that breathes through a Wicked Image cold air intake and exhales through Wicked Image stainless steel long tube headers and Dynomax mufflers. Power is put to the ground via a GM 4-speed 4L60E automatic transmission and a 10-bolt rear end with posi-traction. The engine bay is finished by firewall-mounted electronics hidden under a custom shroud to maintain a clean look. The interior is finished in the correct Light Fawn color while the original gauges were reworked to function with the LS2's ECU in order to maintain the original feel of this car. Shifting duties are carried out by the original floor mount shifter along with paddles mounted behind the Billet Specialties steering wheel. Modern interior touches are the custom machined brake and gas pedals along with a 7-speaker stereo system with fabricated trunk speaker enclosures. The powder coated frame features QA1 coilover shocks at the corners with 2" drop spindles. Steering is handled by a C4 Corvette steering system while stopping power is provided by C5 Corvette brakes, front and rear. To cap things off, the original owner's packet from Chevrolet including the owner's manual, warranty/service booklet and accessories guide come with the car. Also included is a book with photos of the car being restored.
