Description
Lot #772 - One of two of identical cars ordered by Shelby marketing and only 19 painted in Silver Jade of the 935 GT350 fastbacks built in 1969. A Ford executive drove this GT350 for one year then it headed to its first owner. Powering this GT350 is the 290hp version of the 351cid Windsor V8 with a Shelby aluminum intake manifold as well as Cobra valve covers. Changed to a 4-speed manual transmission with the correct 3.25 Traction-Lok rear end delivering power to the ground. The Shelby's interior features regular production Mustang's deluxe interior decor group, this one covered in its original black clarion knit corinthian vinyl, features Shelby identification on the door panels, steering wheel and passenger's side dash along with Carroll Shelby's autograph on the glove box door. The top of the console houses Stewart Warner oil pressure gauge and ammeter while the dash features a tachometer, 140mph speedometer and a fuel gauge. This Shelby features inertia-reel harnesses, a roll bar, sport deck rear seat, an AM radio, a tilt-away steering column and air conditioning. 1969 was the last year that Shelby Mustangs were produced, while many unsold ones were re-VINed as 1970s. Now based on the Mustang's Sportsroof (fastback) model, the Shelby differed from standard Mustangs by having fiberglass front fenders and hood while creating a larger grille opening with two 7" headlights. Lucas fog lamps were mounted below the front bumper. The hood features three forward facing NACA ducts and two rear facing air extraction scoops. The front and rear fenders feature brake ducts to keep the disc/drum brakes cool. At the rear, 1965 Thunderbird style tail lights were used along with a unique center exit exhaust. Contrasting the body color, a reflective black stripe with GT350 lettering can be found along the side while snake emblems adorn the left of the front grille and on the C-pillars. A Marti Report confirming its story along with its owner's manual and a copy of the Window Sticker accompanies this ultra-rare and unique Silver Jade Shelby GT350.
