Description
Lot #675 - This 1928 Ford is an old school Lakester Hot Rod with an all-steel and aluminum body, featuring a long list of custom touches evoking classic dry lakes racers of the '40s and '50s. Highlights include a custom "Aerosculpted" '38 Ford grille/nose cone, modified '27 trunk, shaved door handles, louvered (176 in all) aluminum quick release hood and engine side panels, custom frame powder coated to match the DuPont white exterior of the car, hand painted graphics and pinstriping, a custom shorty widescreen and the triple aluminum Maund intake stacks for the carburetors are exposed through top of the engine cover, an authentic touch taken straight from vintage So Cal Hot Rodders. The car is powered by a 350cid V8 with 2.02 double hump heads, triple downdraught Rochester carburetors, aluminum Edelbrock intake manifold, custom made stainless headers with side-exiting lakes exhaust and aluminum Corvette valve covers. It is backed by a TH350 transmission driving a Speedway Engineering quick-change 4.11 rear end. Other features include a dropped 1934 front end with 1947 dogleg wishbones, vented front disc brakes, narrowed 8-spring rear end with gas shocks, custom high capacity aluminum radiator, aluminum fuel tank, red painted Chrysler steel wheels with '34 Ford hubcaps and reproduction Firestone race tires, vintage E&J Type 20 headlamps, all leather interior with a custom 4-spoke wood rim steering wheel and Stewart Warner/Classic Instruments gauges. This unique Lakester is finished to a very high standard and was featured with an article in the June 2012 issue of Street Rodder magazine.
