Description
Lot #918 - D100 long bed, Sweptside box with extremely rare Custom Sports Special option package. The CSS package included black vinyl bucket seats with seatbelts, center console, bright finish fascia, door panel arm rests, hand-finished full cabin carpeting, padded sun visor, distinctive dual racing stripes, bright finish grille, chrome front and rear bumpers, plus additional brightwork and exclusive badges. This CSS was a bone-dry Texas truck from new and the recipient of a total bare metal, nut and bolt restoration that was completed in 2013. It is meticulously finished to factory specification down to the original 225cid slant-six under the hood backed by the optional LoadFlite 3-speed automatic transmission with dash mounted gated shifter. Included with the truck is the original owner's manual, which has detailed maintenance logs on the Servicing Record page from the time the first owner took delivery in Taylor, TX, through November of 1971 at 25,243 miles. Also includes an original sales brochure, photos from the restoration and extensive CSS information. The CSS is considered by many to be the first sports oriented truck, the spiritual predecessor of the Viper-powered SRT-10 super truck. This D100 is listed in the CSS Registry and ranks among the finest available.
