Description
Lot #1374 - This car is one of just 930 examples of the Senior Packard's that were produced in 1941, this Super 8 one-eighty is one of the few existing examples of LeBaron's expansive 7-passenger touring limousine. The semi-custom was built on Packard's longest wheelbase of 194" at $5,595 was the most expensive model available that year. In April of 1985, this custom Super 8 was purchased by Dr. Charles Blackman of Madison, IN, a renowned marque authority and Packard Club administrator who is also a trustee of the Packard Motor Car Foundation. Regarded by the National Packard Museum as the preeminent authority on 1941 Packard limousines. In 1991, Dr. Blackman sold the Senior Packard to Bill Mitchell, the scion of the Mitchell-Bentley body company, an Owosso, MI group that bodied many postwar station wagons. This rare and striking coach-built Packard limousine has seen minimal restoration and displays impressive originality with a charming patina inside and out. Its opulent chrome grille gleams and its wood trimmed cabin glows with authenticity. An ideal candidate for Preservation Class exhibition.
