Distinctive Super Sport identification (SS over exterior Crossed Flags), front passenger assist bar with SS assist bar emblem, electric tachometer, padded instrument panel, special full wheel covers with simulated knock-off hubs, power steering, power brakes, sintered-metallic brake lining, heavy-duty front and rear coil springs and shock absorbers are all present and accounted for. Under the hood of this particular '61 Impala there's a non-original, high-performance 348cid V8 with triple two-barrel carburation and synchro-mesh 4-speed transmission. Decoding the VIN number reveals, the sixth digit L=Los Angeles, CA, the Van Nuys Chevrolet plant that opened in 1947. Starting from the first digit 1=year 1961, 18=car series Impala V8 engine, 37=2-door hardtop sport coupe 5 passenger. The Body Tag located adjacent the power brake booster and master-cylinder reveals this '61 Impala left the Van Nuys plant painted Code 936 Ermine White with a Code 903 Seafoam Green painted within the blaze in the body side molding. Optional accessories on this car also include AM radio and re-circulating heater. The floor pan in this Impala appears the same as the day it left the plant. Factory red lead primer and insulation in great shape with no patches or hints of rust at all.
