Lot #22 - Here is a 1955 REO M36 6x6 Miltary truck/auger. M. J. Baker served in the Korean War for the United States Navy on the USS Pickaway and after his service became an electrical contractor. He purchased this M36 from the government in 1967. He then used this rig to install poles and power lines all over Southern California. This truck installed every power pole at Riverside Raceway. Most of its work was done on military bases where it installed power poles and lines at Camp Pendleton, Fort Ord, Fort Irwin, El Centro, China Lake and Point Loma in California. In 1982 the truck was moved to Las Vegas where it did most of its work at Nellis Air Force Base and Indian Springs Air Force Base. After passing away in 2001 the truck sat in Indian Springs until 2011 and was restored back to its current condition over the last 2 years, the truck was left to the grandson of Jay Baker. This is a running and driving, fully functional M36 powered by a 331cid inline 6. This beauty can travel at speeds up to 55mph. The auger on the back is powered by a 1966 240 I6 and runs great. The boom and auger are operational and ready to dig. This wonderfully restored truck is ready for work and comes complete with a dash mounted M1 Garand US rifle that has been decommissioned and is for display only.
