Description
Lot #1090 - Genuine Chip Foose design, Boyd Coddington build, big block, 502/502hp, 4-speed, Hydramatic transmission, lightly chopped and sectioned with classic DeSoto grille and sumptuous glove leather interior. This sleek, meticulously finished custom is an early Chip Foose design, built in the Boyd Coddington shop under Chip's supervision. Begun in 1993, when Chip was first employed by Coddington on a full-time basis, the build required three years to finish. The one-off Sombrero billet wheels and the monochromatic full leather interior by Gabe complement the clean look. In 1996, upon completion, it won the prestigious Harry Bradley Design Award. Its 502/502hp engine provides contemporary performance, while it is outfitted with air conditioning, disc brakes, a custom dash and Alpine stereo for comfortable cruising. It has accumulated under 7,000 miles of careful cruising and is in virtually as built condition. This historic car was one of the first that established Chip Foose as the ultimate designer of our lifetime. Typical of a Foose car, the design features amazing lines with smooth proportions and flow. The chrome is perfect as are all gaps. The glove leather interior is a clean and contemporary design, while the paint is deep and close to perfect after all this years, truly a testimony to the extraordinary build quality.
