Description
Lot #1049 - The co-star with Morgan Freeman (Hoke Colburn) and Jessica Tandy (Miss Daisy Werthan) of "Driving Miss Daisy," this 1949 Hudson Commodore Custom 8 4-door sedan occupies a central role in the 1990 Best Picture Academy Award-winning film. The film's choice of the Hudson, notable for its then-dramatically Oscar-winning movie's story and is one of the best remembered movie cars of our time. Innovative "step-down" design and full envelope bodywork compliments the relationship that grows between Hoke and Miss Daisy. This is the actual movie car, wearing its correct movie shade of deep maroon with brown Bedford cord upholstery. It has a 3-speed transmission, turn signals, radio, heater, large hubcaps with trim rings, white wall tires, grille guard and the rear fender skirts that were prominent features of every "step-down" Hudson. Benefitting its movie co-star history, it has seen limited use since the 1989 movie release and is sound, straight and well maintained. Included with the car is a wealth of items from the film including production stills, movie poster and the original preview trailer on 35mm film. This 1949 Hudson Commodore Custom Eight sedan is an important and fondly remembered movie car with an essential role appropriate to its dignity.
