Description
Lot #342 - The 1942 Dodge Custom Club coupe powered by an L-head straight 6 engine, Stromberg carburetor, 3-speed manual transmission, independent front coil springs and rear elliptic springs with the engine developing 105hp. Custom Club coupes were easily identified from the Deluxe coupes by the use of chrome beading around the windows and dual wipers. This 1942 Dodge is a rare find indeed. With 56,290 original miles, the paintwork appears mostly original, though there are a few touch-up spots. There is also a very small rub-through area on the top of the right front fender. All of the brightwork is there, with 66 years of nice patina. The front and rear bumper chrome is as new. The chassis is clean, but does show that the car is 66 years old. The chassis is bone dry, no signs of corrosion or rust or any previous accident damage. The coupe runs and drives very nicely. The transmission shifts smoothly. Steering is also remarkably tight and does not have excessive play. The interior is finished in beige houndstooth cloth that is certainly period for the car. The headliner appears absolutely original. The engine compartment is also remarkably clean and with the exception of a modern battery and shows a nice clean patina as well. Remarkably well-preserved and ready to enjoy.
