Description
Lot #5026 - "One of the rarest cars on the planet" says Mopar Action October, 2005. This is an original 1963 426 Max Wedge, high compression 13.5:1 Stage 1 Plymouth Belvedere 2 door hardtop. VIN 3231130981, one of only 18 examples originally built with this combination. It still wears the factory original color combination, Red with Alabaster interior. The original Broadcast Sheet and Fender Tag show a scheduled production date of November 05, 1962, actually shipped November 26, 1962, this and all of the other factory details of this car have all been authenticated by Galen Govier and the VIN is also listed in Daryl Davis's book of known Max Wedge car VIN numbers. This original car has not been restored. It has just been repaired and maintained over the years to keep it in as original condition as possible. Highlights include a complete ownership history, the very rarely seen and properly detailed original 1963 TMP-426 HC Max Wedge engine with dual Carter AFB 4 barrel #3447s carburetors on a Cross Ram manifold, the very rare original T-85 BorgWarner 3-speed manual transmission, factory installed exhaust system with cutouts, original interior and has had no known sheet metal replacement or accident history. Due to most of these cars being used a race cars from new, very few remain today in such original condition, especially with their original factory installed drivetrains. A rare opportunity to own one of the good ones.
