Description
Lot #759 - The first year of the great Model K. A rugged and reliable touring car sporting LeBaron Coachwork. High quality Schaffer and Long restoration that has yet to be shown at CCCA and AACA events. Authentic period correct appearance. 384.8cid L-Head V8 engine rated at 120bhp at 2,900rpm with a 3-speed manual gearbox, 4-wheel mechanical drum brakes and live-axle suspension with semi-elliptical leaf springs and shock absorbers. This dashing Lincoln Model K was treated to a complete restoration by well-regarded restoration shop Schaffer and Long of Magnolia, NJ. Schaffer and Long has been one of the foremost restorers of antique and classic cars for the past four decades, and the work done there is second to none. This car was restored to its original specifications while in the ownership of Dominic Sergi of Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Before it was repainted, noted Lincoln restorer and historian, Rick Kriss of Pennsylvania, was contacted in an effort to obtain the proper nitro-cellulose paint in correct Lincoln colors. It's lovely presentation includes a tasteful and distinctive color scheme, dual canvas-covered, side-mounted spares with twin mirrors, painted wire wheels and a nicely appointed interior with all of the expected accouterments. Collectors who really know classic cars treasure these early Lincolns for their high quality engineering and construction, impressive road manners and sporting yet unpretentious styling. This genuine LeBaron body is decidedly sporting and, with its rumble seat, this car can accommodate up to four on a tour. Almost 83 years on, the Lincoln Model K remains one of the most versatile of the great classics, and a dashing coach-built model such as this convertible coupe is equally at home on the road as it is on the concours lawn. This lovely example is presentable inside and out, even the undercarriage and engine bay are impressively clean. With a weekend of fine detailing, there is no doubt that it will score very well at any classic car show. As a testament to Lincoln's craftsmanship and quality of engineering, this lovely Lincoln is also said to run beautifully. From The William Munday Collection.
