The Volkswagen Beetle is the longest running and most manufactured vehicle of a single design platform ever built worldwide. 1967 marks the end of the classic Beetle as Volkswagen wanted to modernize the car and give it luxury options to compete with the American marketplace. Because of the cost, Volkswagen made many changes to cars after 1967 to cut costs. 1967 is also the first year of the 12-volt system and all gauges, lights and electrical are in working order.
