Lot #617 - Introduced by General Motors in 1926 to fill the price gap between the Chevrolet and Oakland brands, the Pontiac was an immediate hit. This 1926 Coach was one of only two body styles, along with the coupe, initially offered for the 1926 model year. Pontiac automobiles were first introduced as a companion car to the Oakland in late December of 1925 as 1926 models. Labeled the NEW-FINER Series 6-27, the 1927 Pontiac was an extension of the enlarged 1926 model lineup and featured the first open Pontiac car, a 2dr Sport Roadster with a Stewart body-and a 2dr Sport Cabriolet with rumble seat that replaced the previous years Deluxe Coupe model. A bit confusing, Pontiac cars through the 1929 model year had "1/2 year" models and were sold as the next following years cars. That ended with the 1930 introductions.
