Description
Lot #947 - For 1934, Auburn brought in Gordon Buehrig, who penned earlier Dusenbergs as well as the Cord 810, to redesign the entire line-up. The 1935 851 and 653 were subsequently brought to production to great acclaim, with a new grille, lowered center of gravity and reduced unsprung weight. The 653 seen here is an attractive example that is the recipient of an older restoration, that has been pampered and sparingly used. It is powered by its correct Lycoming WF straight 6 engine and 3-speed transmission and finished in attractive beige with dark brown trim, mahogany hued leather interior and matching deep brown softtop. It is equipped with wire wheels, wide white wall tires, rear mounted spare, dual tail lamps, front driving lamps and retains its period correct Stabilite headlamps. An attractive example of exceptional quality.
