Description
Lot #321.1 - Superbly executed Straman convertible conversion and electric top. Richard Straman Coachworks was the country's leading customizer of Ferraris in the 1970s to the 1990s. Ferrari ended the production run of NART spyders after 10 cars. But the demand in the US market for them launched the career of Richard Straman. As a young engineer and coachbuilder, he was commissioned in the early 1970s to convert a Ferrari 365 GTB/4 coupe into a spyder. The quality of his work was so exceptional that other Ferrari owners came forward and several more 365s were completed. Over the last three decades Straman has made countless cars into ragtops. This 400i has a GM Turbo 400 3-speed transmission with a B&M shift kit added to produce clean crisp shifts without the slip that is typical in most automatics. The entire leather interior was replaced by a recent owner, including the dash. Custom carpeting edged in leather was also added. A repaint was done in the last decade in factory Rosso Red and still shows very well. **NOT EMISIONS COMPLIANT. CAN ONLY BE SOLD TO A DEALER OR OUT-OF-STATE BUYER**
