Description
Lot #1573.1 - I named this car "Dr Rev" after my Father, a preacher, who was a lover of Oldsmobiles. I restored this car after my Father passed away in 2005 and after we had traveled together across the country with it, entering it into many car shows across the country. It is an original Texas car that was purchased in Texas in 2000 and meticulously restored between October 2008 and July 2010. The restoration is documented very well and reveals a superb chassis, body and undercarriage with very little rust or body damage. The entire undercarriage was meticulously restored as well as the body, interior, engine and engine compartment. The chrome has been restored to better than original and triple plated and polished beyond compare. The bright work is beautiful as well. In July 2010, only 3 days after completing the restoration, I trailered the 442 to Boston, Massachusetts for the Oldsmobile Club of America's Nationals, where it took 1st place in the restored stock class of the Olds Nationals, with a score of 987. Over $80,000 has been invested in this restoration. The car has the factory SSI 14" rims with the correct redline tires of that era. This 442 was one of only 2,000+ cars that rolled off the factory line with the Tri-Power L69 option. It is a very rare, highly-optioned car with air conditioning, power windows, power brakes, power steering and side-mounted tachometer, a 4-speed manual transmission and Protect-O-Plate. The Cutlass 442 was Oldsmobile's answer to its Pontiac competitior, the Tempest GTO. Production began in 1964 and was the successor to the F-85 Cutlass, but production began in mid-year because Pontiac's sales of the GTO were so spectacular and Oldsmobile wanted in on the action. With Oldsmobile going out of business several years ago, this beautiful car will undoubtedly be among a very elite class of muscle cars that are highly collectible.
