Description
Lot #1015.2 - Representative of the highest point of the muscle car era and one of the rarest production Pontiacs ever, the 1970 GTO Judge Ram Air III convertible presented here is one of only 47 YZ Coded examples built in 1970. This exceptional Judge convertible has had a 2,000 hour, body-off, rotisserie restoration and is one of the most correct numbered and date-coded Judges in existence, with world class documentation. This incredible Judge is complete with its original Build Sheet, Protect-O-Plate and is PHS documented as one of 168 Judge convertibles built in 1970. The entire original matching numbers drivetrain has been meticulously rebuilt to stock specifications, even the connecting rod and main bearings have not been machined. The block still retains its original displacement and the original size bores feature new pistons. The original water pump and exhaust manifolds were retained and rebuilt rather than being replaced. A notarized document was signed stating that the only four dated and numbered items that were replaced during the restoration were the starter, radiator, alternator and voltage regulator. This Judge even retains its original factory-issue JT Coded Rally II wheels. Nothing but the very best was put in this automobile. The original owner and the owner of the delivering dealer were consulted with during the course of the restoration and both were on hand when the freshly restored Judge convertible was unveiled at the original delivering dealership, Gus Brown Motors in Whitby, Ontario, Canada in June of 2007 with the GTO Club of Ontario on hand. An extremely rare and magnificently restored Ram Air III convertible, this 1970 GTO Judge is an outstanding example of one of Pontiac's greatest muscle cars. From the Ron Pratte Collection.
