Description
Lot #680 - Pontiac's Custom Safari Wagon was the counterpart to the Chevrolet Nomad except they are more than twice as rare with a mere 3,760 built in 1955 compared to 8,530 Nomads. This numbers matching Safari is a supremely original example in its factory original Turquoise Blue Metallic/White Mist two-tone color scheme. The color combination was an option, top-of-the-line Vogue Two-tone Finish, and it is echoed inside with optional two-tone turquoise/ivory genuine leather interior, which is completely original. This Safari is loaded with additional options including the Power Pack for the Pontiac only 287cid V8, Deluxe Electromatic push-button radio, heater, back-up lamps, view finder, chrome tissue box, directional signal, and tilting non-glare rear view mirror. It is further equipped with the Convenience Group supplying a host of courtesy lamps, handbrake signal lamp, and outside side view mirror, and it also has the Appearance Group with rear fender shields, fuel guard, and the fabulous lighted Chief hood ornament which works perfectly.
