Description
Lot #1290 - This 1970 Dodge Challenger backs up the Roadster Shop winning the 2009 Trendsetter of the Year Award. A magazine feature car in Popular Hot Rodding Magazine, they called it the "Coolest '70 Challenger ever" after it was selected as a top 5 finalist for the 2010 Street Machine of the Year. This is a complete one-off build with extensive body modifications to transform it into a modern, smoothed, performance machine. Bumpers have been sectioned and flushed to the body, with custom lower spoilers and rear lower valance with one-off center exhaust. BMW halo headlights with HID projectors and custom grille add to the clean, modern look. The custom hood with air intake feeds the 528cid aluminum HEMI and is backed by a Tremec TKO 5-speed manual transmission. Ride quality and performance handling comes from the custom tubular front K-member and suspension with rack and pinion steering. Custom independent rear suspension with inboard Wilwood disc brakes and one-off Budnik wheel wrapped in Pirelli rubber. Custom 19"x9" front and 22"x12" rear wheels powder coated and wrapped in Pirelli tires. The custom interior features French seamed black leather with grey alcantara inserts. The custom center console houses the drilled shifter and engine start button, as well as the controls for the power windows. The dash has a custom surround with Autometer computerized gauges. The leather interior is complete with an Alpine and Rockford Fosgate stereo and Vintage air conditioning and heat. Custom PPG was mixed to give this Challenger a unique presence with hand airbrushed 528 HEMI graphics and matte alloy fiberglass hood with cold air scoop, shaved door handles and drip rails add to the detail.
