Description
Lot #650.2 - Hurst Tiger Gold is one of the most famous and rare colors of Pontiac history. It was put into production in late June, 1965 and was discontinued after the 1966 model year. Conceived by Jim Wangers, one of the most noted Pontiac advertising executives of the 1960's and 1970's. The Tiger Gold color became the symbol of the increasingly popular GTO muscle car. You can own this extremely rare piece of Pontiac history, few 1965 GTO convertibles were produced with the Tiger Gold color and the Tri-Power 4-speed drivetrain. This Tiger Gold GTO was delivered with black interior, white top, Tri-Power motor, 4-speed wide-ratio transmission, 3.55 posi-traction rear end, wood wheel, rally gauges, center console, tinted glass, dash pad, exhaust splitters, spinner hubcaps, AM radio and 2-speed wipers. In keeping with the spirit of the Tiger promotion, a set of the rare Hurst wheels and redline tires were added. A frame-off restoration has been completed and PHS documentation is provided. This GTO Tiger also just recently graced the Summer 2001 cover of Hagerty Magazine, "Heavy Metal Pontiac and the art of stuffing big motors into smaller cars." With the special paint Tiger Gold color and the highest performance drivetrain option for 1965, this is arguably one of the most rare and desirable collector '65 GTO's. Jim Wangers is here with the car.
