Description
Lot #87.1 - This wagon is a new twist to the highline 60's family cruiser. The body remains completely stock with all the original chrome, stainless and simulated wood trim. The laser straight yellow paint and hand-painted wood trim were done by Teddy Z, who it the nephew and protegee of legendary builder Bill Hines. The modern Hot Rod look was achieved by lowering the car and adding 18" and 20" Billet Specialties Wheels. The rebuilt front suspension and power disc brakes help this 1961 drive like a modern car. The drivetrain was upgraded with a freshly rebuilt Ford 302cid and AOD overdrive transmission. This combo allows the wagon to roll comfortably at 75mph. The engine compartment is as highly detailed as the outside of the car and also features a custom surfboard motor cover. Not to be out done by the exterior, the interior retains much of the original feel with modern upgrades. Tucked between the freshly covered front bucket seats is a custom tiki themed console. An Ididit tilt column with a 15" Billet Specialties steering wheel help keep the driver comfortable while cruising down the road. A Vintage Air heating and air conditioning unit and custom stereo system add a few more modern conveniences. Mixing the classic vehicle with a modern Hot Rod styling has made this car a real pleasure to look at and drive.
