Description
Lot #365 - True "J" code 1971 Ford Mustang fastback. The car was designed during the peak of the horsepower war of the late 60's and early 70's and this one was made to do one thing, go fast. The car is a simple fastback with the renowned 429 Cobra Jet engine and toploader 4-speed transmission along with the bullet-proof nodular 9" rear differential. Marti reports that it was one of 56 that came with this engine, one of 38 with the manual transmission, one of 5 that were painted Bright Red, and this is the only car ever produced in this combination with Red Vermillion seats. This is an original California car and remained in California up until 2009. It is matching numbers down to the original and impossible to find Barnum Brothers fan shroud. The car retains all original sheet metal, floor pans and trunk pans. The only items that are unoriginal are the headliner and the seat covers, which are both NOS replacement parts. The car does come with the rare flip down rear seat. Also included is the original space saver rear tire and inflation canister.
