Description
Lot #344.2 - From the Dave's Garage Car Collection. The 1941 Willys Americar was roomier than any early Willys product, but it had just the right looks and just the right dimensions to make it an outstanding Hot Rod. In the early days of the sport, the drag strips of America were filled with Willys "gassers" setting race records. Body manufacturer Clayton Custom Cars of Benson, North Carolina reproduces the classic Willys coupe in fiberglass to give modern Rodders the opportunity to own one of these rare cars. This one, nicknamed Bad Company, has been put together in Pro-Street touring custom style and is equipped with an array of options that include power steering, power brakes, power windows, bucket seats, air conditioning, remote control doors and a Pioneer sound system. To maintain the classic feeling, the car hosts a big block 409cid Chevy V8 with dual 4-barrel carburetors. The T-5 manual gearbox has received Claytons Plus Horsepower upgrades and drives to a 9" Ford rear end fitted with 4.10 gears. Other features include an award winning paint job in shiny black with a gray custom leather interior, a custom dash, matching leather trunk trim and Boyd wheels. Starting with a new frame and undercarriage, this Willys was put together in 2006-2007 and has only been driven a total of 180 miles since it was built. The car's teardrop headlights and electric saver grille make it stand out from other rides at Rodding events. Decorating the front is a skull and blue flames done in ghost style. The shiny exhaust pipes exit under the front fender aprons for a unique high performance look. The 1941 Willys fiberglass bodies are patterned off the original steel car, but have upgrades that do not sacrifice authenticity. The bodies are laminated using state-of-the-art techniques and are reinforced in key high stress areas such as the hinge and latch mounting points.
