2023 LAS VEGAS AUCTION – 1972 DE TOMASO PANTERA “FAST FIVE” MOVIE CAR – NO RESERVE

268532_Misc_a3fa57d7-4165-4a5f-8a93-ecb8986b3a84Picture this: You are a part of the Fast Family we all know and love. You are hanging onto the back of a Mongo truck, an off-road-style flatbed with monster truck-style suspension built specifically for the heist, as it’s racing through the desert towards a speeding train. The truck pulls up alongside the train when Dominic “Dom” Toretto, played by Vin Diesel, and the team start cutting into the side of a train car where Brian O’Conner, played by the late Paul Walker, is hidden with Dom’s sister Mia. The first car stolen from the train is a beautiful 1972 De Tomaso Pantera.

The Pantera is expertly pulled onto the bed of the Mongo truck. The truck’s bed rises, allowing the car to roll off the bed with an expert driver behind the wheel who makes the escape and drifts through the desert. Of course, there are more cars for the Fast fam to steal, like a beautiful blue Ford GT40 and a silver Corvette. But the Pantera from this adrenalin-pumping, high-action train scene from the “Fast Five” movie, the fifth installment in the “Fast & Furious” franchise, is headed to the Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas Auction, June 22-24 in the West Hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center and is selling with No Reserve.

268532_EngineThe 1972 Pantera offered is the original car from the movie scene. It has been restored to movie-correct brilliant black paint with white graphics and tinted windows and received new Vader power-window motors. The black exterior is complemented by the original movie car’s 17-inch Campagnolo wheels that have been polished and wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The black interior of the Pantera includes an aftermarket battery shutoff and roll bar for stunt safety and camera mounting. The spare tire, luggage rack, air conditioning, heater motor and windshield wipers have been removed.

Under the mid-engine hood of the Pantera is a 351ci Cleveland engine fitted with an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, Carter 750 carburetor and thermostatic electric radiator fan with MSD electronic ignition. The engine is bolted to a ZF 5-speed manual transmission with a new clutch. The headlights, brake lights, turn signals and reverse lights all work normally.

The owner acquired the Pantera in 2013 from a Universal Studios consignor, then restored it. A Deluxe Marti Report for the Pantera is included with the purchase.
