1967 Chevrolet Corvette Custom Convertible headed to the 2022 Scottsdale Auction with No Reserve

Designed to devour pavement at any speed, this 1967 Corvette convertible Resto-Mod is a magnificent example of classic style and modern technology. The second-generation Corvette was such an advanced concept sports car to begin with it still looks futuristic all these years later. But this particular one, created by Jeff Hayes Customs, incorporates a completely new chassis created to put its handling and performance levels beyond anything even original designers Bill Mitchell, Pete Brock and Larry Shinoda could dream about.

Its Art Morrison-sourced undercarriage made specifically for the 1963 through 1967 models dramatically increases the car’s structural rigidity, thereby improving the level of performance of every single component attached to it.

The motivating force of this creation is a 540-horsepower GM LS3 small-block V8 engine. It offers an aluminum block and heads and very well may be Chevrolet’s most advanced internal combustion powerplant so far. Its self-learning computer characteristics make it the ideal engine upgrade for virtually any application.

GM’s 4L70E 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission was designed to manage higher horsepower engines with ease. That’s why it was selected for this project—so you’ll have strength and finesse, thanks to its overdrive fourth gear ratio.

Wilwood vented disc brakes at all corners replaced the car’s original setup and offers the stopping power of contemporary technology, while at the same time providing the confidence you would expect in a completely reimagined classic roadster.

This ravenous machine also brings good manners to the table with Vintage Air heat and air conditioning. An AM/FM Bluetooth stereo system sets the mood for both driver and passenger. Power steering, power windows and even a power hood flaunt the car’s sophistication in any setting.

Most enthusiasts agree nothing finishes off that special car like the perfect set of wheels. Custom forged aluminum rolling stock by Schott do the honors for this Corvette – and highlighted further with unique whiteline tires that add a touch of nostalgia to this time-traveling sensation. Even just sitting still this Corvette has the stance of a beautiful predator.

To make this astounding machine even more appetizing, it’s finished in an eye-catching silver-blue paint complemented by crème-colored seats and interior panels. The gauges were replaced with modern counterparts but remain in the original dash arrangement. A classy dark-wood steering wheel is another high visibility tip of the hat to an era gone by.
