When you think of Italian sports cars, two names come to mind: Ferrari and Lamborghini. These nameplates are responsible for some of the most impressive supercars to hit the road and raise the bar for innovative automotive technology. During the 2023 Scottsdale Auction, Barrett-Jackson is offering two very special cars from each of these automakers: Lot #1391, a 2021 Ferrari SF90 and Lot #1407, a 2019 Lamborghini Aventador SuperVeloce Jota, or SVJ for short.
For Ferrari in 2021, the SF90 was its most powerful road car to that point. It’s also Ferrari’s first-ever series production plug-in hybrid and the only Ferrari capable of traveling entirely on EV power alone. The SF90 boasts a cutting-edge hybrid power plant that consists of a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 and three electric motors, which results in 769 horsepower from the V8 and an additional 217 horsepower from the trio of electric motors. The gas/electric powertrain generates a net output of 590 ft/lbs of torque. That power launches the car to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds, and it can run the quarter-mile in 9.6 seconds.
With the power being sent to all four wheels, it makes this the first mid-engine Ferrari with all-wheel drive. An 8-speed automatic transmission helps manage all that power, including different driving modes that allow drivers to tailor the car’s handling to suit their preferences. The options include EV Only, Hybrid, Performance and, last but not least, Qualify ‒ a setting that allows you to fully enjoy and push the car’s performance capabilities.
The EPA estimates that the SF90 should deliver 18 mpg combined when running solely on gasoline and up to 51 MPGe when utilizing both its gasoline engine and its electric motors. That number is pretty impressive for a car designed for speed.
This 2021 Ferrari SF90 is finished in Rosso Corsa DS 322, outside and in. It comes optioned with carbon racing seats and is equipped with a front-end lift to help navigate over speed bumps and other elevation changes. Each option is documented on the Window Sticker, which is included in the sale.
In contrast to Ferrari’s hybrid prancing horse, Lamborghini created a raging bull with the Aventador SVJ to embrace challenges head-on, combining cutting-edge technology with extraordinary design, while always refusing to compromise. In a future driven by technology, it’s easy to lose the genuine thrill of driving. But in the future shaped by Lamborghini, this won’t be left behind, because there will always be a driver behind the wheel. The 2019 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ is bullish and aggressive with its 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 mid-engine, multipoint fuel-injection system and longitudinal engine alignment rated with 760 horsepower. It utilizes a carbon-fiber monocoque design and is capable of reaching 0 to 62 mph in 2.8 seconds, with a maximum top speed of 218 mph.
The power is transmitted to the road by its all-wheel-drive platform with a 7-speed automatic gearbox. The car is also equipped with all-wheel steering (allowing all four wheels to turn at once), independent double wishbones, coil springs and an anti-roll bar. For stopping power, the Aventador SVJ braking system includes 15.75-inch carbon-fiber vented discs at the front and 14.96-inch carbon-fiber vented discs at the rear. The SVJ also has gooey Pirelli Trofeo R tires, 1,080 miles at time of writing and lots of carbon-fiber parts to further enhance performance.
This vehicle was ordered by a former-Miss Universe contestant, whose love of her Christian Louboutin “Red Bottom” shoes transitioned over into the love of her Lamborghini. As a longtime owner of Lamborghinis, she decided she would combine two of her favorite passions, fashion and supercars, and create the vehicle offered. Christian Louboutin is recognized as one of the most famous shoe designers, known all over the world as the creator of the “Red Bottoms.” As a true lover of the shoe line, the original owner decided to have a custom one-off color applied to this 2019 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ to match the famous red. To accomplish this, a brand-new pair of “Red Bottoms” were sent to the Lamborghini factory for precise color matching. This is the only known SVJ ever painted in this special paint-to-sample (PTS) color.
The vehicle underwent a full service, with a new battery installed by Lamborghini of Austin in November 2022. The car is being sold with a brand-new pair of Christian Louboutin “Red Bottoms” in the original box.
