Excitement continued to build through Friday at Barrett-Jackson, with the auction arena erupting on a number of occasions – particularly when three incredible first-production and VIN 001 vehicles took to the stage to raise funds for some great causes.

Ford Motor Company continued their long history of bringing VIN 001 vehicles to Barrett-Jackson to help others by bringing VIN 001 of the long-awaited 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1. The limited-edition fastback sold for $500,000 to benefit JDRF, an organization that is leading the fight against type 1 diabetes.

The Ram TRX has been impressing auction-goers all week with its all-terrain toughness at the new Off-Road Experience, so it was no surprise that VIN 001 of the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX Launch Edition stirred up some bidding action on the auction block Friday. When the gavel fell, a winning bid of $410,000 took the brand-new truck home, with 100 percent of the sale going to United Way for Southeastern Michigan, earmarked for veterans and their families. The same worthy cause benefited from the sale of the first retail production 2020 Chevrolet Corvette convertible, a sleek black beauty that roared onto the stage and brought in another $400,000 for the important charity.

Nearly 300 more collector cars made their way across the famous Barrett-Jackson auction block on Friday. Offerings from the 1950s and 1960s dominated the Top 10 of the day, with three from 1967 taking the top three spots: a Chevrolet Chevelle SS Convertible and a Ford Mustang Eleanor Tribute Edition – each of which sold for $242,000 – and a Chevrolet Corvette Custom Convertible that brought in $231,000. More than 20 new auction records were set during Friday’s auction as well, including a 2005 Ferrari F430 Spider that sold for $172,700 and a 1972 Chevrolet K10 Custom Pickup that went to its new home for $140,800.

The day began with some noteworthy sales during the Automobilia Auction, where neon and porcelain signs ruled the day. Taking top honors was an impressive Ford V8 single-sided neon sign from the 1930s, which sold for $80,500. A stunning authentic 1960s Ferrari porcelain dealership sign featuring the iconic prancing horse logo brought in $67,850, while a 1930s three-dimensional Shell neon porcelain sign went off to its new home for $57,500.
