Offered at the January 21-29, 2023, Scottsdale Auction with No Reserve:

This custom 1970 GMC 2500 Fleetside pickup, built by California Rod & Custom, has been customized from top to bottom, with the drivetrain upgraded to a 4×4. The truck has been completely sandblasted, with metalwork and bodywork that show the result of a high-end restoration. After all the body spa treatment, it was professionally sprayed in a Duxone Nimbus Gray and Abyss Gray two-tone paint job with a Matrix clear coat. All the trim is finished in gloss black to break up the two-tone look.

It features a set of 24-inch U.S. Mags Forged Sniper wheels custom powder-coated in gloss black and Candy Blue, wrapped in 37-inch Fuel MT tires, with all precision weatherstripping and new glass. A one-piece power window kit was added to clean up the vent windows. This short-bed pickup is sitting on a custom-extended Blazer frame equipped with 2.0 Fox Shocks and power steering with dual steering stabilizers. Skyjacker 8-inch lift softride leaf springs were installed to clear the 37-inch tires. Sky’s Offroad Design crossover steering keeps this truck driving smooth down the road. Stopping power is provided by 4-wheel disc brakes with Wilwood Hydro-Boost power-assist.

Powering this custom pickup is an LS 5.3-liter engine with a Brian Tooley Stage 2 truck camshaft. The engine is paired to a 4L65E 4-speed automatic transmission and equipped with an advanced adapter to support the NP205 transfer case. The LS block and transmission are refinished in Candy Blue, featuring a Performance Rod & Custom aluminum radiator plumbed with stainless-steel lines and hoses. A custom air intake forces cool air into the engine, which features vintage Chevrolet valve covers with Billet Specialties hidden coil pack adapter plates. The black ceramic-coated exhaust system is a full 2.5-inch custom TIG welded with MagnaFlow mufflers. Fuel is stored in a Boyd Welding fuel cell plumbed with stainless-steel lines.

The custom TMI interior features bench seats, door panels and a dash pad that are black with blue stitching. Custom additional features include a CNC billet gauge cluster with Dakota Digital VHX black and blue gauges, a glove box door with Chevrolet script and a 15-inch Billet Specialties steering wheel with a new Ididit tilt steering column. The interior is cooled by a new Vintage Air climate-control system. The stereo is powered by a custom Autosound head unit with Bluetooth capabilities, custom-made speaker kick panels that hold two Hertz MPK 6.5-inch speakers, two 12-inch Illusion Audio carbon subwoofers, and Hertz ML Power4 and ML Power1 amplifiers. To tie this all together, the body and chassis are wired with a PW21 circuit kit and the engine is wired with a PSI Performance EFI system. This true nut-and-bolt, body-off custom build has 600 test miles.
